Things to see and do in Singapore

Singapore

Visiting this wonderful city twice already, I figured I wanted to share with you things to see and do in Singapore. It is definitely a place where you can enjoy, eat and experience many wonderful places. I would go back there every year for sure as it gives me a very special vibe. I have combined in one article all the interesting things we did in these two years we have been there.

  1. Gardens by The Bay

Gardens by the bay is a nature park located in the Central Singapore. It is actually a garden in the middle of the city and it was one of the strategies of the Singapore government to enhance the greenery in the city centre. Someone can also call it a place that is always packed with tourists and it provides a great experience for those who want to enjoy something different in the city.Β It consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden.

The largest one is the Bay South Garden and it aims to show the tropical horticulture. The whole story draws an inspiration from the flower of orchid, which is the the representative of the tropics and of Singapore.Β The orchid takes root at the waterfront (conservatories), while the leaves (landforms), shoots (paths, roads and linkways) and secondary roots (water, energy and communication lines) then form an integrated network with blooms (theme gardens and Supertrees) at key intersections. It has different conservatories (Flower Dome and Cloud Forest), Supertree Grove, Children’s Garden and also horticultural themed gardens.

2. Stranger’s Reunion

I am always on the lookout for a good meal, and in Singapore I have found this awesome place for heathy and popular food. Nevertheless, my favourite meal at this place is not so healthy! πŸ™‚ I am not a fan of sweets but these waffles I don’t think anyone could resist! With ice cream, banana, strawberries and berries, it’s a real pleasure of the day! I usually ask without a banana and I always struggle to finish eating it, but I never give up because it’s a heaven on Earth. Besides this, you can also find some granola, acad bowls, sandwiches, avocado toast, etc.

3. Orchard Road

The name that I would give for this are of Singapore would be “shop till you drop”. πŸ™‚ Talking seriously, the street packed with stores, shopping malls, hotels, cafes, bars. It is a good place to shop, chill, rest from the sightseeing and also enjoy a bit of AC in the hot Singaporean days. πŸ™‚ It would seem now like something stupid that I am saying, but trust me, once you are there, you will know what I mean!

It is made for everyone and you can find everything there. From ultra luxury stores to the mass brands like H&M and Zara. We always find time to come back here as it is a bit different than the rest of the city.

4. China Town

When you want to rest from all the ultra modern Singapore vibe, just head to the China Town and feel the real Asian atmosphere. It’s located very close to the financial district, and it is a very good option for some souvenirs and street food. Actually we have found there the only one Michelin star street food restaurant, very good for your pocket and very tasty for you. πŸ™‚ It’s a real experience there in China town, also because once you get out of it, the area of the city is very nice and you can find very cute streets and bars.

5. Friends Cafe

Are a person in the world who doesn’t like “Friends”? If you are, then please stop reading this and kindly leave this article. Ahahaha πŸ™‚ But if you are, then just keep reading this and you will love it! Once we were driving with a taxi I saw from the outside something that looked to me like a “Friends” cafe. I really couldn’t believe it with my eyes! And then of course I went there, and it was so like in the show. The gadgets they used, Monica’s fridge, Joey’s and Chandler’s dog, Central Perk Cafe. I felt like in a show! It was such an amazing experience and it made me go back to my teenage days!

6. Marina Bay

If you want to feel like in a space shuttle, surrounded by enormous modern building in different shapes the Marina Bay is the are in Singapore that you have to visit. It is located in the central are a of the city and it’s actually a mix of uses. There you can find residential, commercial, entertainment and hotel areas. What is the most eye-catching here is the Hotel “Marina Bay Sands” that has the view of the whole city. I have been there just for a drinks in the evening and it is something to remember! It is also very close to the Gardens by the Bay (see nr.1 in this article) so everything is quite close for the day of sightseeing.
